Hope & Love For Troubled Times

Event Details

“Revelation is not a crystal ball... but rather a down-to-earth manual on how to be a disciple of Jesus facing the harsh realities of life on earth.” —  Darrell Johnson

Join us for an exploration of the Book of Revelation as well as a look at our own reactions to it. Using theology, art, spiritual formation practices, and imagination, we’ll process the rich and often confusing imagery presented in the book and answer the questions:

What is this book?
Who do we follow?
How do we follow?
Who is our “enemy”?
What is our hope?

In this imaginative work of apocalyptic literature, we’ll encounter rich images that invite us into the Story of God’s work in the world. We’ll encounter a dragon and beasts, horsemen and warriors and angels and creaturely worshippers, a healing tree, a cubed city, the Cosmic Christ, and most unexpected of all – the Slain Lamb who wins over the world through love and “weakness.”

FACILITATOR:

Becky Moritz Bonham avoided the book of Revelation for many years, because she was afraid of it. Eventually, she gave in and studied it – and it deepened her faith and transformed her life. Now, it’s her favourite book of the Bible, because it helps her to make sense of her life and calling as a Christian living in a world of complexity, suffering, and the battle for hope.

Becky has been a student of theology through three degrees (BA in Bible/Theology, a Master of Theological Studies, and a Master of Psychotherapy and Spirituality), and is always excited to discover new insights along the way. She is a spiritually-integrated psychotherapist (Canadian Certified Counsellor), spiritual director, and former chaplain, and she has carried the truth, beauty, and hope of the book of Revelation into every encounter along the way. You can find out more about her at www.wanderinghome.ca and www.beckymoritzbonham.com
