Centering Prayer: What is It & Why Do We Do It?

How do you nurture your inner sense of quiet, faith, and well-being in the midst of this fast paced world with its many demands? Is spirituality just another one of those ‘go-to’ fixes that you think of in a time of crisis but otherwise seems irrelevant? Is the earth itself crying out for those who are brave enough to sit down, be still, and take time for the sacred to emerge? If these questions interest you or there are others you would like to consider, please join us for this brief introduction to a contemplative practice called Centering Prayer. While grounded in the Christian tradition, Centering Prayer finds common ground with all faith traditions as well as with those of no religion who simply share a longing for inner silence and healing.

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, join Mary Jane Yates and Heather Mattson McCrady for this brief introduction to a contemplative practice called Centering Prayer on Tuesday, September 12 at 6:30 pm. Suggested Donation: $10. Register at 780-459-5511 or at starofthenorth.ca/prayer

Too Many to List

It’s a good problem to have: too many spiritual formation and care opportunities to list in one newsletter! The Star of the North offers a wide variety of onsite/online programs and workshops as ways to rest, renew, and revitalize from the challenges of life; to gain perspective, knowledge, and self-awareness. There is also time to savour the joys of community in relationship with God, others, and creation more fully. Head on over to www.starofthenorth.ca/programs to find something that fits with your own journey. And register early! Some programs fill up quickly; others may be cancelled due to insufficient registrations.
