Solitude is a courageous encounter with our naked, most raw and real self, in the presence of pure Love. This level of contemplation cannot help but bring about action. (Richard Rohr)
There is a certain loneliness in the spiritual search, for even in the bliss of God’s reality that is infinite joy and love, there are depths of experience that we shall never in any way be able to express to another human being. There is a dimension of delicate pain in this, but even in our aloneness we are together, for we each have it. At the deepest levels of our hearts we are all aching, for each other and for the same eternally living One who calls us. It would be well, if we could acknowledge this more often to one another. (Gerald May)
In this time of global crisis, uncertainty and the unknown, it is more important than ever to be grounded in faith, buoyed up by hope, and connected to God’s unfailing love. The recent experience of self-isolating, staying-at-home and lock-downs has led to the experience of involuntary solitude that for many has resulted in the anguish of loneliness if not despair.
This online directed retreat will provide participants the opportunity to transform loneliness into a graced time of solitude, resting in God’s overwhelming love with the assistance of experienced spiritual companions. Together we will explore the possibilities and newness spread out before us as we move forward into uncharted territory.
