This Philosophy and Theology Club brings together guest thinkers to guide engaging dialogue on key philosophical and theological questions. In this month’s session Dr. Dahl will moderate as we tackle the question "What is the beautiful?" Everyone uses the word ’beauty’ just as everyone seems to think that ’beauty is in the eye of the beholder’. And yet, is this true? Has it always been the case that beauty is a subjective experience based on an individual’s decision? How else have we and might we think about the beautiful?

Dr. Neal DeRoo, a philosopher of religion and phenomenology, has held major academic roles, published widely, and lectured internationally. His current work explores spirituality as a fundamental structure of experience shaping intuition, identity, and worship across social, political, and religious contexts.

With over twenty years of academic and administrative experience, Dr. Darren Dahl serves as faculty at Newman Theological College. A Saskatchewan native, he taught at St. Thomas More College after doctoral studies at McMaster University. An Associate Professor of Theology, his research focuses on phenomenology, religious experience, and Revelation.
