BREAKING NEW GROUND TOGETHER: Reconciliation and Right Relations: Reflections of a TRC Commissioner on Progress and Ongoing Challenges, with Dr. Marie Wilson

Almost three years ago, Canada made history with the official completion of the first national Truth and Reconciliation Commission ever held in the ‘developed’ world. What difference is it making today? Where do all Canadians fit in to its unfinished business?

Marie Wilson served as one of the three Commissioners of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada after more than 30 years as a professional journalist, broadcaster, program host and senior executive manager with the federal Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as well as territorial Crown Corporations.  In addition to journalism awards, she has been recognized with several honorary degrees, the Meritorious Service Cross, the Order of the Northwest Territories and the Order of Canada for her lifetime contributions to Social Justice, Communications in Canada, and the work of the TRC.  Marie currently serves on the board of directors of the Rideau Hall Foundation and CBC-Radio-Canada. Originally from southern Ontario, her home for more than forty years has been based in the Northwest Territories, shared with her husband, three children and four grandchildren.
